Northumberland 2010
Northumberland was Jane and Howard’s chance to prove it isn’t grim up north. It was all perfect, big house, grounds, sea view and some neighbours who we never saw but who certainly heard us.
Creche and Burn!
It’s not easy keeping kids entertained, as Jackie found out as she played the ‘sit on the stairs’ game. Susie had more luck with the ‘sit on the floor’ game, before she ran off for a six mile jog around the surrounding countryside. I learnt a lesson here – never believe someone who says they only ‘lightly jog’…
It is grim up north!
Just when we thought all our ‘grim up north’ jokes were wasted, it became grim up north. Yet another holiday in wellies and coats, and this time even the occasional hat may an appearance.
Bear John
Decked out in his full safari gear, John took Joe on a trip to the deep dark woods where he impressed him with his survival techniques and having a glow in the dark cigarette.
What a beautiful behind
Shirl and Adi couldn’t help but admire the shape of Chris’s behind, as he stroked his croquet ball through the hoop.
Eventually they got bored and started taking photos of the scenery, which was not supposed to include Chris.
Parenting Skills
With an opportunity to learn, it quickly became apparent that different parents have different ideas when it comes to parenting. As Jackie got Grace doing times tables backwards and Susie explored the history behind the ruins, Alan threw a ball at Thomas’s head, again and again and again.
Eventually even his orange sweatshirt got bored, claiming ‘this was the worst holiday ever’ until he met a similar sweatshirt on its first group holiday….
Prepared for Anything
The kids were prepared for anything, apart from Howard taking them off to look at how far they would fall if they fell off the bridge. When he’d finished with the bridge he took them to the biggest rock he could find…%MCEPASTEBIN%

As Jane chattered on about her life, Jackie only managed to keep her head straight by gripping it firmly in her hand.

As Howard propelled the kids along the zip wire, John stood by in his finest tennis gear ready to take on all-comers.
Farne-tastic
It was all smiles on the way to the Farne islands, but the fear soon kicked in as the birds started pecking heads, leading to escape techniques ranging from running to turbans…
Kids in fall shocker!
Once again Shirl volunteered to look after the kids, asking them firstly to provide some much needed warmth by lying on him, and then by seeing who could jump of a first floor balcony without breaking their shell….
Cup Shocker
As I always say it’s the winning that counts, and Luke proves it’s like father like son as he brings the trophy home.
The celebratory meal was a homage to the Wicker Man, as everyone had to wear a mask and sing silly songs.
